News: We have made three offers. Everyone has some a week or two to respond and after that we will see where we are.
News from the fall semester: The primary complaint was housing, especially the absence of a kitchen. As a result faculty will be allowed the option to live off campus and will be provided a rather small stipend for this purpose. I do not yet have estimates of living costs off campus but clearly that is something we need to look into. Faculty are pleased with the quality and work ethic of students and are generally pleased with the overall experience. This first year was staffed heavily with people from UCD and this is unlikely to repeat next year. The number of faculty we need in economics will double as well so there is a need for two full time faculty for the academic year. This may end up being four individuals each one semester but we will certainly be looking for people that have a longer term interest. Therefore the job opportunity is quite real. We currently have 26 applicants, we conducted phone interviews with 7 and will start the process of matching people to courses and semesters.
