The AEA Summer Minority Program

The 29th annual American Economic Association Summer Minority Program concluded Friday, August 1, 2003 and was hosted by your UCD Economics Department.

Participants took classes in mathematical economics, microeconomic theory, econometrics, and research methodology and data analysis. The courses were offered at two different levels, a Foundations (advanced undergraduate to MA level) program, and an advanced (MA level) program. Those completing the Foundations program will be returning to their undergraduate institutions to complete their BA degrees or will enter MA programs; many of those completing the Advanced program will be moving on to Ph.D. programs.

The UCD Department of Economics is the eighth host of the Summer Program, which typically rotates every three to six years. Most recently it has been located at the University of Texas-Austin, Stanford, Temple, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Yale, Northwestern, and University of California-Berkeley. The National Science Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, and the American Economic Association provide funding for the Summer Program.
